How to Delete Multiple Telegram Chats at Once

If your Telegram chat list is a wall of old conversations, dead groups, and one-time bots, deleting them one by one is miserable. Here is how to clear multiple Telegram chats at once — what the app supports natively, and how to bulk-delete the rest automatically.

Delete Multiple Chats on Mobile

Open Telegram and go to your chat list
Long-press one chat to enter selection mode
Tap the other chats you want to remove
Tap the trash / delete icon and confirm

For each chat you can choose to just remove it from your list, or delete and leave. For groups, deleting also leaves the group.

Delete Multiple Chats on Telegram Desktop

On Telegram Desktop, hold Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) and click each chat to select several, then right-click and choose Delete. It is faster than mobile, but you are still picking chats manually from the full list.

Does Deleting a Chat Delete Messages for Everyone?

Deleting a one-on-one chat removes it from your side; Telegram also offers "Also delete for [name]" in private chats. Leaving or deleting a group only affects your membership — it does not remove the group for others. Clearing a chat's history is separate from deleting the chat itself.
